Host A Garden Brunch At Home

Day-dreaming about the times when plant-obsessed restaurants and patios were a thing? Missing brunch with your weekend crew? We’re right there with you.

As our days blend together and the joys of cooking an at-home meal become old news, we are constantly seeking new ways to bring back our favorite pre-stay-at-home moments. We are fans of using our creativity, and lucky for us these days that is helping us create some of our favorite out of home experiences safely at home.

We have been missing our pre-COVID Sunday brunch so we made our own. Whether it is a special occasion you have coming up that you want to celebrate or if you’re just looking to spice up your weekend, check out our easy tips below on how to upgrade your weekend breakfast with an at-home garden brunch.

PICK THE VENUE

Stay with us here. We know you can’t change your location from your home, but you can transform it in ways you would have never thought possible. Have a ton of plants in pots scattered inside and outside the house? Imagine the outcome of bringing them ALL into one room. Next thing you know you’re in a lush garden setting and your meal is more special than when you started.

Spread the smaller plants on your dining table to bring life to your tablescape. Items you already own can be brought together (think plates, napkins, silverware, candles, or general decor items) in an unorthodox way to create a really special scene.

SET THE MENU

We challenge you to set a menu that is more unique than your standard breakfast spread. We know pretending to be a chef may not be your strong suit – but choosing even just one way that this is a meal unlike any other will result in a mission accomplished. Elevate your mimosa with fresh fruits or decorate your favorite cocktail with printed paper straws.

Get creative with what you have in your fridge – a small touch always goes a long way.

PLAY THE MUSIC

Your brunch event is going to be anything but basic, and the music should be tailored precisely to your party.

The East of Ellie Spotify account is full of carefully curated playlists. We have created the perfect brunch vibe playlist – Brunch Bop – to set the tone for your celebration. Regardless, we suggest “House Party” by Sam Hunt to kick things off (because- do we really need to explain?)

CAPTURE THE MOMENTS

Anything being “insta worthy” right now is added pressure that we simply DO NOT NEED, so don’t feel obligated to make your celebration aesthetically perfect. Whether you want to share photos of your celebration with the world or not, be sure to capture the memories that will last far longer than this pandemic.

For a fun twist use a polaroid or disposable camera which will add to the “simpler times” theme of our current state. After all, this time in our lives will be a story for the grandchildren- remember the bright sides and how you fought the odds to celebrate!
